THE NARRATIVE OF ART

Memory defines us on an individual and collective level and shapes social history through the reuse of archives with a former life. I try to ensure that the memories of a group that we cannot condemn to oblivion are

never lost.

One of the important things that art can do is to recover the voices of the past, and value narratives that could be erased or forgotten by History.

Art is intimately linked to the experiences that are transmitted through the artwork. The images I have used from these archives are a starting point for transforming documents taken from the memory of the conflicts of war and exile, and they provide the basis of my conceptual idea for this exhibition.

Historical memory is in every piece, texture, stroke... The documents are the essential material for explaining what happened.

I use my identity for personal narrative; the memories and experiences related by the documents in the first person are implicit in my work. Memories that are shared through our tangible culture: records, handwritten letters, ID cards, photos, receipts, birth certificates, other certificates, reports... Conceptually they form a time capsule on a personal, artistic, historical and social level.
