Inauguration of the signposting project "Retreat and Paths of Exile"

Saturday 5 September at 10 am saw the opening of the signposting project "Retreat and Paths of Exile" in La Vajol, a project promoted by the Regional Council of Alt Empordà and the MUME with the help of Democratic Memorial. The outing to La Vajol includeD a visit to signs placed at the Exile Monument and the Mina Canta (or Negrin's Mine).

We also climbed on foot to the Lli Pass, where there is also an explicative panel. This small step boundary, the true place of memory of our recent history, has an undeniable symbolic weight. In particular, this is the place where, on 5 February 1939, the painful journey into exile was undertaken by President of the Republic, Manuel Azaña; the President of the Republican Parliament, Diego Martínez Barrio; the President of the Generalitat, Lluís Companys; and the Basque President José Antonio Aguirre.
